Bindery Helper

As a leader in the print industry, John Roberts is looking for qualified and talented individuals to grow our highly recognized, award-winning team.  We are currently looking for an experienced Bindery Helper to join us.  

Available Hours: 6am-2pm M-F           Pay Starting At: 17.00-21.00

Job Description

Assist Bindery Operators to jog paper, secure materials or supplies, move product onto or off equipment, clean-up and pack skids. Operate small Bindery machines, count paper and carton product. Assist in all different areas of the bindery department as needed, providing support to operators and increasing efficiency of production.

Essential Duties

•Set up, adjust and operate bindery equipment alongside Bindery Operators

•Read and interpret written job tickets or other job specifications containing product requirements.
• Work with Bindery Operator to help troubleshoot problems to maintain quality standards and to keep equipment in running condition – inform Finishing Manager of problems or concerns.
• Examine product frequently to ensure that it meets customer quality specifications.
• Pull and inspect run samples and notify Finishing Manager in the event quality standards are not being met.
• Stack and label product in proper configuration and on proper pallets.
• Sort product, carton or package it per customer requirements.
• Move product around using a pallet jack or power dolly, transfer materials to different locations as needed.
• Clean and maintain assigned machine to ensure its optimum operation.
• Run additional equipment as assigned by the Finishing Manager or Bindery Supervisors.
• Adhere to and promote all safety policies and procedures, making sure work area is hazard free and orderly
• Perform other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned.

Job Requirements

• Use hand tools or machines needed to perform operations appropriately and safely.
• Follow directions of Bindery Operator and Bindery Supervisors, meeting customer specifications and requirements from the job ticket.
• Measure, cut or otherwise work on materials or objects with great precision and accuracy.
• Make sound decisions and resolve problems using facts, experience, problem-solving tools and personal judgment.
• Adapt to changing situations.
• Able to recognize and observe the need for confidentiality both inside and outside the Company.
