Job Description

A Cutter Operator prepares and operates cutting equipment to produce various printed materials like brochures, catalogs, books, and mailers according to written specifications and customer requirements. They adhere to Standard Operating Procedures, perform routine equipment maintenance, and troubleshoot issues as needed. Additionally, they oversee and train Bindery Helpers to ensure consistent performance and high product quality.

Essential Duties

• Verify job ticket and materials to ensure accuracy before starting any equipment setup.
• Adjust computer settings to ensure cutting dimensions meet specifications.
• Visually inspect cut materials for accuracy, making necessary adjustments to controls.
• Manage cutting blade tension based on paper characteristics and cutting requirements.
• Feed and unload materials from the cutter or oversee helpers in these tasks.
• Complete necessary paperwork related to job functions.
• Communicate essential information to incoming shift personnel to maintain efficiency.
• Ensure adherence to safety protocols by coaching peers and maintaining a hazard-free work area.
• Supervise and train Bindery Helpers as needed.
• Handle loads and secure cartons or skids as required.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform routine maintenance to uphold quality standards.
• Promote and adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
  

Job Requirements

• Proficiency in using hand tools and machines safely.
• Ability to read and understand job tickets, blueprints, diagrams, and other relevant documents.
• Precision and accuracy in measuring, cutting, and working with materials.
• Basic arithmetic skills to calculate material quantities, dimensions, and costs.
• Visualization of finished products and responsibility for their accuracy and production efficiency.
