Stitcher Operator

Available Hours: Second Shift Pay Starting At: $25-30
Job Description
A Bindery Stitcher Operator makes ready and uses stitcher equipment to produce brochures, catalogs, books, mailers, etc. to
written specifications following Standard Operating Procedures and customer requirements
Essential Duties
Individuals must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Verify information on job ticket and staged materials (paper stock, cartons, etc.). Ensure that requirements are correct
before initiating make ready on any equipment. - Adjust feeder pockets to size of folded signatures or flat sheets.
- Inspect stitched books or signatures visually for position approvals.
- Obtain pre-production oks from supervisor.
- Do continuity pulls throughout run.
- Adjust air pressure pump to separate sheets.
- Select wire (correct gauge) and set stitches for specified length and threads wire into machine.
- Set trimmer knives to trim 3 sides of product to specified size.
- Complete paperwork related to job function (counter readings, signing job tickets, load tags etc.).
- Convey essential information to incoming shift personnel to minimize production delays and maximize efficiency.
- Supervise and instruct Bindery Helpers, train them as needed to perform job duties.
- Move loads or bundles, secure cartons, skids, etc.
- Troubleshoot problems to maintain quality standards and perform regular maintenance as required.
- Adhere to and promote all safety policies and procedures, making sure work area is hazard free and orderly.
- Set up and maintain caliper to ensure stitcher produces material to specifications in the standard operating procedures.
- Set up camera to ensure integrity of all the signatures and job requirements.
Job Requirements
- Use hand tools or machines needed to perform operations appropriately and safely.
- Measure, cut or otherwise work on materials or objects with great precision and accuracy.
- Use arithmetic or shop geometry to figure and verify amounts or material needed, or to be ordered, dimensions to be
followed and cost of materials.
