Job Description

Assist in setting up and operating a multi-unit, heat set web press to print a variety of materials such as brochures, catalogs, books, mailers, annual reports, etc., following Standard Operating Procedures (S.O.P.’s). Collaborate with the press crew and customers to ensure desired outcomes and schedules are met while performing routine equipment maintenance.

Essential Duties

• Verify accuracy of information on job tickets and staged materials (plates, paper stock, etc.).
• Complete necessary paperwork, including counter readings and signing job tickets.
• Secure printing plates onto printing cylinder and thread paper supply roll through rollers to cutter and folder.
• Adjust compensators to guide paper over rollers and cylinders.
• Ensure proper feed control to position the cylinder for plate locking.
• Re-thread paper through press and adjust tension rollers if web breaks occur.
• Operate pasting device to splice new roll to depleted roll.
• Load paper supply rolls into press at the beginning and during the run.
• Clean, inspect, and lubricate moving parts of the press.
• Perform required maintenance tasks as needed.
  
  

Job Requirements

• Make informed decisions and solve problems effectively using facts, experience, and problem-solving tools.
• Possess adequate knowledge of the printing and graphic arts industry.
• Safely use hand tools or machines required for operations.
• Work with great precision and accuracy when measuring, cutting, or handling materials.
• Visualize the finished product accurately.
• Able to work overtime and weekends as needed.
